About Us

CalFresh Healthy Living facilitates behaviorally focused, evidence-based, nutrition and physical activity education interventions. We reach out to Californians through classroom lessons, social media campaigns, school gardens, taste-testing activities, walk-to-school events, and school wellness policies.

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS), California’s SNAP-Ed oversight agency, operates robust integrated programs and innovative partnerships to maximize resources for Californians across their lifespan.

Our State Implementing Agencies

CDSS leads four State Implementing Agencies that work together to make information and options for healthy eating and physical activity available to low-income Californians through a network of local health departments, educators, volunteers, nonprofit organizations, area agencies on aging, and other local partners.

CA Department of Public Health

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) works to protect the public’s health in the Golden State and helps shape positive health outcomes for individuals, families and communities. The Department’s programs and services are implemented in collaboration with local health departments and state, federal and private partners.

UC Calfresh

The UC CalFresh Nutrition Education Program offers comprehensive evidence-based nutrition and physical activity education, and is aligned with policy systems and environmental change services in early childhood centers, schools, and community environments.

Catholic Charities of California

Catholic Charities of California provides more than 1.5 million professional social services to Californians who need help. Founded in 1986, Catholic Charities of California is the single point of access to this statewide network.

CA Department of Aging

The California Department of Aging (CDA) administers programs that serve older adults, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, and residents in long-term care facilities throughout the State. Nutrition services provide a vital link in maintaining the health of older Californians by preventing premature institutionalization and improving their overall quality of life.
